Snippet From Michael Bloomberg

"But if we say that a mosque and community center should not be built near the perimeter of the World Trade Center site, we would compromise our commitment to fighting terror with freedom.

We would undercut the values and principles that so many heroes died protecting. We would feed the false impressions that some Americans have about Muslims. We would send a signal around the world that Muslim Americans may be equal in the eyes of the law, but separate in the eyes of their countrymen. And we would hand a valuable propaganda tool to terrorist recruiters, who spread the fallacy that America is at war with Islam.
Islam did not attack the World Trade Center -- Al-Qaeda did. To implicate all of Islam for the actions of a few who twisted a great religion is unfair and un-American. Today we are not at war with Islam -- we are at war with Al-Qaeda and other extremists who hate freedom.
[snip]

The members of our military are men and women at arms -- battling for hearts and minds. And their greatest weapon in that fight is the strength of our American values, which have always inspired people around the world. But if we do not practice here at home what we preach abroad -- if we do not lead by example - we undermine our soldiers. We undermine our foreign policy objectives. And we undermine our national security."

I Will Defend My Country From Within

These armchair faux patriots advocating violence against their fellow Americans and government employees are no better than the Imam pushing their followers to attack Americans abroad.

When some domestic terrorist finally hits his mark, like the guy in Oakland almost did, the Becks of the U.S. are no better than Bin Laden. Someone who rabble rouses his sheeple with his fear mongering. Eventually some weak minded fool will find his mark.

Marxism and the Repubs?

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" or read as "a person should contribute to society to the best of his or her ability and consume from society in proportion to his or her needs."

That sounds like, work hard and don't feed off of the system and conserve. Sounds like a tenant that both dems and repubs would agree on right?

But thats a Karl Marx idea... damn that Marxism! I guess working hard and not sucking off the government teet isn't a mantra of the repubs.

Dammit I'm wrong again...

Socialism and Repubs?

"He who does not work, neither shall he eat."

Being a "socialist" idea, its funny hearing the repubs telling people "they can't have anymore unemployment insurance, just get a job." Sounds to me that our current system is the antithesis of that socialist idea; charity, food stamps, healthcare. If the dems are to fit their socialist title that is being forced on them they would have to abide by these tenants then;
-workplace right and protections
-health protection
-care in old age and sickness,
-housing
-education

Just to name a few. Oh wait, people wanting and caring about socialist/non-socialist ideals... could it be that people are not a dichotomy and don't fit into other peoples molds? A repub wanting all those things listed above... but that makes them...

With or Without Oil / Our Energy Use

Let's talk about some future stuff and oil.

As a resource I would prefer we used everyone else's supply and leave ours 'till the very end. Now, if it were to come down to it this is how it would go and this is contingent on us not quashing our insatiable taste of the sweet cheap crude.

We can either use all of our supply and then buy it at higher prices from other nations or take the supply from those nations for our use.

Or we can use all other nations supply first and leave ours for the last, thus making other nations buy it from us.

Regardless of the choice, blood will be shed. It will either be in another country or here on our soil. If the world wants oil and we are the last to have it or control it then we become the target. If we run out then we will invade, pay high prices or work with them to get it over other countries.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When the term "independence" is used, we should start using it when we talk about energy. We should start generating our own electricity on a personal scale. Our houses should produce our own electricity, our vehicles should producing the power needed to run itself. Geothermal, solar, there are plenty of potential and kinetic forces in action or harvest energy out of.

If the markets won't support this type of energy use or the people don't want to invest in it or put the time into it, then our power generation should be localized. We should not have power supply systems that cover large parts of the country. Look at it this way. If one quarter of a country is ran on a single power supply grid, what do you think some of the first targets of attack would be.

Much like the banking industry, one part of a system crashing or failing shouldn't take out a whole country. Diversity is key to survivability.

And I got called out to work, so I lost track of what I was talking about and will save it for another day. Yay storms putting our customers out of service!

FBI Investigating Mosque Pipe-Bombing as Possible Domestic Terrorism

http://wokv.com/localnews/2010/05/fbi-investigating-mosque-pipeb.html

FBI Agents re-emphasizing the seriousness of a possible hate crime at a Jacksonville mosque.

The FBI is looking at this case as a possible hate crime, and now they're analyzing it as a possible act of domestic terrorism.

"It was a dangerous device, and had anybody been around it they could have been seriously injured or killed," says Special Agent James Casey. "We want to sort of emphasize the seriousness of the thing and not let people believe that this was just a match and a little bit of gasoline that was spread around."

Casey says surveillance video from the Islamic Center shows the arsonist carrying gasoline and the pipe bomb. When the explosive went off, parts of it were found 100 feet away on 9A.

Despite receiving few phone calls from the public, investigators are following up on leads. Call CrimeStoppers with any information.

When Arkham Asylum Runs A Political Party

A local radio talk show host likes to say "...wait till we get some adults in control."

http://www.mainepolitics.net/sites/default/files/Maine_GOP_platform.pdf

An overwhelming majority of delegates to the Maine Republican convention tonight voted to scrap the the proposed party platform and replace it with a document created by a group of Tea Party activists.

The official platform for the Republican Party of Maine is now a mix of right-wing fringe policies, libertarian buzzwords and outright conspiracy theories.

The document calls for the elimination of the Department of Education and the Federal Reserve, demands an investigation of "collusion between government and industry in the global warming myth," suggests the adoption of "Austrian Economics," declares that "'Freedom of Religion' does not mean 'freedom from religion'" (which I guess makes atheism illegal), insists that "healthcare is not a right," calls for the abrogation of the "UN Treaty on Rights of the Child" and the "Law Of The Sea Treaty" and declares that we must resist "efforts to create a one world government."

'Oath Keeper' under arrest after driving to Tennessee to take over courtouse, conduct 'citizens arrests' of public officials

http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/oath-keeper-under-arrest-after-drivi

A Georgia man has been arrested in Tennessee--authorities say he headed to Madisonville, armed and prepared to take over the courthouse.

Darren Huff stands charged of traveling in interstate commerce with intent to incite a riot and transporting in commerce a firearm in furtherance of a civil disorder.

The FBI says Huff traveled to Tennessee armed with a pistol on his hip and an assault rifle in his truck, intent on carrying out citizen's arrests of 24 federal, state, and local officials, and on seeing that another man did not face trial for trying to do the same.

The FBI interviewed a bank manager who said Huff told him on April 15 that Fitzpatrick had been falsely arrested, that Huff was in the Georgia militia, and that 8 or 9 other militia groups were headed to Madisonville on April 20 to "take over the city." The bank manager said Huff told him he'd see Huff's actions on the noon news.

FBI agents interviewed Huff at his home on April 19, and Huff said he would be traveling to Tennessee to help Fitzpatrick get the charges against him dropped. Huff told agents there would be no violence unless they were provoked into violence.

Still, he told agents he planned to travel with his Colt .45 handgun and AK-47 rifle.

Then, on April 20, officers in Madisonville reported numerous individuals in possession of openly displayed and concealed firearms, in the area around the courthouse.

FBI agents had observed Huff leaving his home around 6:15 that morning. Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers pulled him over in Sweetwater for traffic violations of traffic control device, registration law, and following too closely.

The troopers said Huff volunteered that he planned to travel to Madisonville to take over the courthouse, to arrest the people on Fitzpatrick's warrants--who he termed "domestic enemies of the United States engaged in treason"--and to turn those arrested over to state police to place in jail.

The troopers said Huff told them if they didn't have enough people on April 20 to do all they planned on that day, they'd be back in 1-2 weeks.

The troopers said Huff also told them he was ready to die for his rights and what he believed in, and that he would not consent to a search of his truck.

Then on April 21, Huff recorded a radio broadcast, talking about his traffic stop and saying he did have weapons and ammunition with him.

As a result, the FBI believes Huff had both the intent and means to carry out threats of violence.

Some More Arizona Comics

My First Wikipedia Edit

Was bored and started reading some stuff on wiki and made it over to "Natural born citizen of the United States." Got down to Obama's part of the article and someone hijacked it and threw in this little tid-bit.

"...which makes him illegible"

It was in reference to him being president, cause it mentioned his father being Kenyan.

So, I deleted it and reformatted the paragraph to make it flow together again.

Yay!

WTF Is Up With You Arizona?

Look, I understand you're afraid and you feel under attack from "the mexicans."

Yes I have seen the federal government be lax on its enforcement of the boarders and stop the flow of drugs, weapons and violence into the country through your state.

But did you really have to enact a law that holds a lot of familiarity to what the Nazi's did to the Jews in the 1940's?

Much how the Nazi's would make you produce proof that you weren't a Jew (Papers) you are now making your law enforcement do the same thing to people they "think" looks illegal. (By the shoes and clothes they were as one of your congressmen have said)

Wouldn't it have been better to work on a path of legalization, and programs to help adapt them to our customs and society? Come up with your own security systems on the boarder to make up for the lack of federal programs? Isn't there a better way than infringing on the rights of the people?

I mean, an american citizen could walk around town a little disheveled and be stopped by the police and asked to prove his citizenship.

Aren't you full of tea partiers and repubs who are all about freedom and justice?

You have lost track of what the ideals of America is, or you may have never known them.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"

Treaty of Peace and Friendship between the United States and the Bey and Subjects of Tripoli of Barbary.

Authored by American diplomat Joel Barlow in 1796, the following treaty was sent to the floor of the Senate, June 7, 1797, where it was read aloud in its entirety and unanimously approved. John Adams, having seen the treaty, signed it and proudly proclaimed it to the Nation.

Art. 11. As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Second Amendment

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

Do you read that as;

Militias have the right to keep and bear Arms.

or

A well regulated Militia shall not be infringed
The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed

It's fun how a little comma can change how one interprets something.

Now off to the gym! ^^

Update: Was thinking of something while working out...

Now if a place of employment bans handguns does this not "infringe" on my right to bear?

If states pass a handgun ban, does not Article VI, Clause 2 Supremacy Clause kick in and override the state law?

Sound Familiar?

Sedition is a term of law which refers to overt conduct, such as speech and organization, that is deemed by the legal authority as tending toward insurrection against the established order.

Sedition often includes subversion of a constitution and incitement of discontent (or resistance) to lawful authority. Sedition may include any commotion, though not aimed at direct and open violence against the laws.

Seditious words in writing are seditious libel.

Sedition is the stirring up of rebellion against the government in power.

Ten Immediate Benefits of HCR

1.Adult children may remain as dependents on their parents’ policy until their 27th birthday.

2.Children under age 19 may not be excluded for pre-existing conditions.

3.No more lifetime or annual caps on coverage.

4.Free preventative care for all.

5.Adults with pre-existing conditions may buy into a national high-risk pool until the exchanges come online. While these will not be cheap, they’re still better than total exclusion and get some benefit from a wider pool of insureds.

6.Small businesses will be entitled to a tax credit for 2009 and 2010, which could be as much as 50% of what they pay for employees’ health insurance.

7.The “donut hole” closes for Medicare patients, making prescription medications more affordable for seniors.

8.Requirement that all insurers must post their balance sheets on the Internet and fully disclose administrative costs, executive compensation packages, and benefit payments.

9.Authorizes early funding of community health centers in all 50 states (Bernie Sanders’ amendment).

10.Community health centers provide primary, dental and vision services to people in the community, based on a sliding scale for payment according to ability to pay.

Culmination of Fear Exploitation?

Civil War over something that people have been mislead about. Insurance over state lines is covered under the interstate commerce clause and therefor regulated by the government. It does not infringe on the 10th amendment rights of the states. Massachusetts already has a mandate to buy insurance.

The fears of the people have been co-opted by the establishment to be exploited for more money and attempts to regain the power that they lost. When this inflammatory rhetoric causes someone to get hurt, rue the day the propaganda broadcasters who serve as the "Voice of Fate" realizes the consequences of their words.

30 Years Later And We Are Back Around To This

Concerning the "Slaughter Solution"

"Self-executing rules began innocently enough in the 1970s as a way of making technical corrections to bills. But, as the House became more partisan in the 1980s, the majority leadership was empowered by its caucus to take all necessary steps to pass the party's bills. This included a Rules Committee that was used more creatively to devise procedures to all but guarantee policy success. The self-executing rule was one such device to make substantive changes in legislation while ensuring majority passage."

Lehman Bros Failure Explained

Bill Mahars New Rule

New Rule:
Let's not fire the teachers when students don't learn - let's fire the parents. Last week President Obama defended the firing of every single teacher in a struggling high school in a poor Rhode Island neighborhood. And the kids were outraged. They said, "Why blame our teachers?" and "Who's President Obama?" I think it was Whitney Houston who said, "I believe that children are our future - teach them well and let them lead the way." And that's the last sound piece of educational advice this country has gotten - from a crack head in the '80's.

Yes, America has found its new boogeyman to blame for our crumbling educational system. It's just too easy to blame the teachers, what with their cushy teachers' lounges, their fat-cat salaries, and their absolute authority in deciding who gets a hall pass. We all remember high school - canning the entire faculty is a nationwide revenge fantasy. Take that, Mrs. Crabtree! And guess what? We're chewing gum and no, we didn't bring enough for everybody.

But isn't it convenient that once again it turns out that the problem isn't us, and the fix is something that doesn't require us to change our behavior or spend any money. It's so simple: Fire the bad teachers, hire good ones from some undisclosed location, and hey, while we're at it let's cut taxes more. It's the kind of comprehensive educational solution that could only come from a completely ignorant people.

Firing all the teachers may feel good - we're Americans, kicking people when they're down is what we do - but it's not really their fault. Now, undeniably, there are some bad teachers out there. They don't know the material, they don't make things interesting, they have sex with the same kid every day instead of spreading the love around... But every school has crappy teachers. Yale has crappy teachers - they must, they gave us George Bush.

According to all the studies, it doesn't matter what teachers do. Although everyone appreciates foreplay. What matters is what parents do. The number one predictor of a child's academic success is parental involvement. It doesn't even matter if your kid goes to private or public school. So save the twenty grand a year and treat yourself to a nice vacation away from the little bastards.

It's also been proven that just having books in the house makes a huge difference in a child's development. If your home is adorned with nothing but Hummel dolls, DVD's, and bleeding Jesuses, congratulations, you've just given your children the gift of Duh. Sarah Palin said recently she wrote on her hand because her father used to do it. I rest my case.

When there are no books in the house, and there are no parents in the house, you know who raises the kids? That's right, the television. Kids aren't keeping up with their studies; they're keeping up with the Kardashians. We're allowing the television, as babysitter, to turn us into a nation of slutty idiots. By the way, one sign your 9-year-old may be watching too much One Tree Hill: if she has an imaginary friend with benefits.

Some Dick Heads Thoughts On A Senators Injured Wife

This is utter garbage. I asked a coworker why I get angry and want to be violent towards these people. Well heres an example. I just want to slap them in the face, a loud slap in public hurts more.

From Dan Riehl: (whoever the fuck this guy is)

Isn't It Time To Euthanize Reid's Wife?

I'm not sure I quite understand this, given that cost is so important as a burden to taxpayers when it comes to health care. If Democrats want so badly to abort babies because of it, why are we bothering with someone who has a broken neck and back at 69? It sounds to me like she's pretty well used up and has probably been living off the taxpayers for plenty of years to begin with. Aren't we at least going to get a vote on it?

Sen. Reid's daughter Lana Reid Barringer, 48, who was driving the mini-van, and his wife, Landra G. Reid, 69, a passenger, were both injured. Landra suffered a broken back and a broken neck in the crash; Barringer suffered minor injuries, Sen. Reid's office said Thursday.

I realize her crook of a husband and his pals in Congress have excluded themselves from the mess they're going to compel everyone else to join, but we're still paying the bills, are we not? I don't see that she's worth it at this point, frankly. I can't recall her ever doing anything for me.

Come on, Harry - do your civic duty. The nation's broke and counting on you guy. Pull the plug and get back to work. And don't bill us for a full day today, either. This is no time to be sloughing off. Air freight her home, you can bury her during recess on your own time and dime. Or are you going to bill us for that, too?

Reid has stayed at his wife’s bedside throughout the day Friday and returned to the Capitol in the late afternoon.

Texas Board of Education cuts Thomas Jefferson out of its textbooks.

From Think Progress

http://thinkprogress.org/2010/03/12/texas-education-board-cuts-thomas-jefferson-out-of-its-textbooks/

The Texas Board of Education has been meeting this week to revise its social studies curriculum. During the past three days, “the board’s far-right faction wielded their power to shape lessons on the civil rights movement, the U.S. free enterprise system and hundreds of other topics”:

– To avoid exposing students to “transvestites, transsexuals and who knows what else,” the Board struck the curriculum’s reference to “sex and gender as social constructs.”

– The Board removed Thomas Jefferson from the Texas curriculum, “replacing him with religious right icon John Calvin.”

– The Board refused to require that “students learn that the Constitution prevents the U.S. government from promoting one religion over all others.”

– The Board struck the word “democratic” from the description of the U.S. government, instead terming it a “constitutional republic.”

As the nation’s second-largest textbook market, Texas has enormous leverage over publishers, who often “craft their standard textbooks based on the specs of the biggest buyers.” Indeed, as The Washington Monthly has reported, “when it comes to textbooks, what happens in Texas rarely stays in Texas.”

Side Effects of Repub Roadmap to the Future

– Federal taxes would be lower for the richest 10 percent, and higher for all other income groups, than they would be if President Obama’s proposals were enacted.

– The bottom 80 percent of taxpayers would pay about $1,700 more, on average, than they would if President Obama’s proposals were enacted.

– The richest one percent would pay about $211,300 less on average than they would if President Obama’s proposals were enacted.

– The poorest 20 percent would pay 12.3 percent of their income more than what they would pay under the President’s proposal, while the richest one percent would pay 15 percent of their income less than they would pay under the President’s proposal.

Details to a Water Boarding

Interrogators pumped detainees full of so much water that the CIA turned to a special saline solution to minimize the risk of death, the documents show.

The agency used a gurney “specially designed” to tilt backwards at a perfect angle to maximize the water entering the prisoner’s nose and mouth, intensifying the sense of choking – and to be lifted upright quickly in the event that a prisoner stopped breathing.

The documents also lay out, in chilling detail, exactly what should occur in each two-hour waterboarding “session.” Interrogators were instructed to start pouring water right after a detainee exhaled, to ensure he inhaled water, not air, in his next breath. They could use their hands to “dam the runoff” and prevent water from spilling out of a detainee’s mouth.

They were allowed six separate 40-second “applications” of liquid in each two-hour session – and could dump water over a detainee’s nose and mouth for a total of 12 minutes a day. Finally, to keep detainees alive even if they inhaled their own vomit during a session – a not-uncommon side effect of waterboarding – the prisoners were kept on a liquid diet. The agency recommended Ensure Plus.

After Telling Women, Gays How To Live, Oklahoma GOP Outraged At ‘Government Intervention’ In Divorces

“How far do I want government to come into my home and your home about private personal matters?” asked Rep. Leslie Osborn, a Republican from Tuttle, in a debate.

It reminds me of the signs; "Keep your government hands out of my medicare!"

Last fall, the Oklahoma passed a law that would have collected personal details about every single abortion performed in the state and posted them on a public website. (The Oklahoma County District Court struck down the law last month)

The Site Big Journalism Is Garbage

From Breitbart's Big Journalism

"Mark Steyn is always right, whether he's writing about Andrew Lloyd Webber or, in this case, the suicide-bomber-in-chief, Barack Obama, who doesn't much care how many Democrats get sent to the electoral Elysian Fields -- or even whether he gets a second term -- as long as he can blow up the capitalist system from within. Excuse me -- effect "fundamental change." And what better way to get Hussein's camel's nose under your hospital gown than by taking over the American health-care system, all under the guise of "reform?"

Really? Equating our president to a terrorist. Camel nose? I really hate these people.

And I guess he thinks the Democrats who vote for the health care bills are heroic and virtuous because the Elysian Fields is where their souls go when they die in the Elysium part of the underworld.

Praise to the Student Protester

I'm proud of the protests that happened on March 4th. Education always gets the shaft when the greed and mismanagement of a budget finally catches up to the times.

Education should be one of the major pillars of our society, it spurs our growth as a nation and betters our overall living conditions. When we neglect our education it has ripple effects throughout all aspects of our lives. Teenagers who turn to violence or drugs, never forming the drive to want to do better for themselves, their family, culture or country. Those kids grow up into stagnation and end up leeching off of their friends or the programs designed to keep people from bottoming out.

We drop the arts programs, the much needed spark to open the creative flood gates and replace them with sports programs. Who cares if bobby can be an excellent painter and sell it for a couple hundreds of dollars when we can make a football breeding camp and get these kids hundreds of thousands of dollars. Why would we want to offer all sorts of avenues for our children to choose what they want to do with their life, let them experiment with different fields till they find what fits them the best? Because we don't want to pigeon hole them into a limit occupation field. I'm sorry Jessica, we can only afford a base line curriculum and crap standards and classes that only teach to pass a test. You know Jessica, management positions at McDonald's are easy to achieve if you just put your tenure into the company.

Glennbeckistan said education isn't a right its a privilege. Maybe the higher levels of education are a privilege, the Masters and Doctorate levels. But education shouldn't be cost prohibitive. And the doors should be open to all. The rich parents already are at that level and can take care of their kids but the lower income level kids should be able to access the same institutions. Then that child, when he grows up, can do the same for his kids. We better society as a whole if we bring everyone up with us.

I would be a fan of low cost of attending but higher demands of achievement. I just believe that if we better everyone around us, we better ourselves. If our friends do better, then so do we. We shouldn't let corporations persist with the tax loopholes and avoid paying their dues. Taxes pay for social programs and we let the biggest tax payers off the hook with crap conservative economics.

Higher education is an investment in yourself, but you should not have to be bankrupted by that investment due to bad lending practices and overpriced for-profit schools. Young people are the driving force of our capitalistic society, if most of their money is tied up in loan repayments then that is money is not being spent in the markets.

Adult learning is essential also. When one sector of the economy goes away or crashes they should be easily able to learn a new field and adapt to the ever changing economic landscape.

We should not neglect our youth and their educations, we should not be limited by financial boundaries as potentials for growth. We should strive to be the smartest amongst the world and strive to better our position in the world.

Comprehensive Sanctions Database. The President’s Proposal establishes a comprehensive Medicare and Medicaid sanctions database, overseen by the HHS Inspector General. This database will provide a central storage location, allowing for law enforcement access to information related to past sanctions on health care providers, suppliers and related entities.
(Source: H.R. 3400, “Empowering Patients First Act” (Republican Study Committee bill))

Registration and Background Checks of Billing Agencies and Individuals. In an effort to decrease dishonest billing practices in the Medicare program, the President’s Proposal will assist in reducing the number of individuals and agencies with a history of fraudulent activities participating in Federal health care programs. It ensures that entities that bill for Medicare on behalf of providers are in good standing. It also strengthens the Secretary’s ability to exclude from Medicare individuals who knowingly submit false or fraudulent claims.
(Source: H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act”)

Expanded Access to the Healthcare Integrity and Protection Data Bank. Increasing access to the health care integrity data bank will improve coordination and information sharing in anti-fraud efforts. The President’s Proposal broadens access to the data bank to quality control and peer review organizations and private plans that are involved in furnishing items or services reimbursed by Federal health care program. It includes criminal penalties for misuse.
(Source: H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act”)

Liability of Medicare Administrative Contractors for Claims Submitted by Excluded Providers. In attacking fraud, it is critical to ensure the contractors that are paying claims are doing their utmost to ensure excluded providers do not receive Medicare payments. Therefore, the President’s Proposal provision holds Medicare Administrative Contractors accountable for Federal payment for individuals or entities excluded from the Federal programs or items or services for which payment is denied.
(Source: H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act”)

Community Mental Health Centers. The President’s Proposal ensures that individuals have access to comprehensive mental health services in the community setting, but strengthens standards for facilities that seek reimbursement as community mental health centers by ensuring these facilities are not taking advantage of Medicare patients or the taxpayers.
(Source: H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act”)

Limiting Debt Discharge in Bankruptcies of Fraudulent Health Care Providers or Suppliers. The President’s Proposal will assist in recovering overpayments made to providers and suppliers and return such funds to the Medicare Trust Fund. It prevents fraudulent health care providers from discharging through bankruptcy amounts due to the Secretary from overpayments.
(Source: H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act”)

Use of Technology for Real-Time Data Review. The President’s Proposal speeds access to claims data to identify potentially fraudulent payments more quickly. It establishes a system for using technology to provide real-time data analysis of claim and payments under public programs to identify and stop waste, fraud and abuse.
(Source: Roskam Amendment offered in House Ways & Means Committee markup)

Illegal Distribution of a Medicare or Medicaid Beneficiary Identification or Billing Privileges. Fraudulent billing to Medicare and Medicaid programs costs taxpayers millions of dollars each year. Individuals looking to gain access to a beneficiary’s personal information approach Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries with false incentives. Many beneficiaries unwittingly give over this personal information without ever receiving promised services. The President’s Proposal adds strong sanctions, including jail time, for individuals who purchase, sell or distribute Medicare beneficiary identification numbers or billing privileges under Medicare or Medicaid – if done knowingly, intentionally, and with intent to defraud.
(Source: H.R. 3970, “Medical Rights & Reform Act”)

Study of Universal Product Numbers Claims Forms for Selected Items and Services Under the Medicare Program. The President’s Proposal requires HHS to study and issue a report to Congress that examines the costs and benefits of assigning universal product numbers (UPNs) to selected items and services reimbursed under Medicare. The report must examine whether UPNs could help improve the efficient operation of Medicare and its ability to detect fraud and abuse.

Ah yes, when someones patriotism is to attack their fellow citizens.

Some items concerning anti IRS issues around the states.

"On April 4, 2003, the FBI arrested David Roland Hinkson, a constitutionalist and tax protestor, for attempting to arrange the murders of a federal judge, an Assistant U.S. Attorney, and an IRS Agent whom he blamed for his legal problems regarding a tax evasion case against him. Between December 2002 and March 2003, Hinkson offered two individuals $10,000 for committing all three murders. On January 27, 2005, Hinkson was found guilty on three counts of solicitation to commit murder after a three week jury trial in Boise, Idaho. On June 3, 2005, Hinkson was sentenced to 43 years in federal prison."

"Last March, a Florida man was sentenced to 30 years in prison after hiring a hit man to kill an IRS worker who was auditing his tax return, and to burn down IRS offices in Lakeland, Fla. The hit man turned out to be an undercover FBI agent who helped arrest Randy Nowak.

In 2008, Earnest Milton Barnett was sentenced to 20 years in prison after ramming his Jeep Cherokee into the IRS’s Birmingham, Ala., offices.

In 1997, two men set fire to IRS offices in Colorado Springs, destroying the building and taxpayer files. In 2003, the men – Jack Dowell of Pensacola, Fla., and James Floyd Cleaver of Colorado Springs – were sentenced to at least 30 years in federal prison and ordered to pay $2.2 million in fines.
"

Free Our Friends from the Tea Party Cult. ^^

Bill Maher: - "In a recent poll almost ninety percent of Tea Baggers said that they thought taxes had either gone up or stayed the same under Obama. Only two percent thought they went down. But the reality is taxes have gone down for ninety five percent of working families taxes went down.

Think about that. Only two percent of the people in a "movement" about taxes named after a tax revolt have the slightest idea what's going on...with taxes.

So, it would be easy to just mock, except that those who fall under the control of cults aren't necessarily weirdoes, they're victims. And we shouldn't forget that these people are our relatives, our neighbors and the folks at the next table in the restaurant. [...]"

Secession Nullification and Interposition

Andrew Jackson statement about the doctrine of nullification.

"I consider...the power to annul a law of the United States, assumed by one State, incompatible with the existence of the Union, contradicted expressly by the letter of the Constitution, unauthorized by its spirit, inconsistent with every principle on which it was founded, and destructive of the great object for which it was formed."

Let Texas and any other state try to secede or use nullification and interposition. They will be met with the force of our true nation, our true patriots and true Americans.

Joe Republican

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF JOE REPUBLICAN
Joe gets up at 6 a.m. and fills his coffeepot with water to prepare his morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards. With his first swallow of water, he takes his daily medication. His medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to ensure their safety and that they work as advertised. All but $10 of his medications are paid for by his employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Joe gets it too.
He prepares his morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Joe's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the morning shower, Joe reaches for his shampoo. His bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for his right to know what he was putting on his body and how much it contained.

Joe dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air he breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for the laws to stop industries from polluting our air.
He walks on the government-provided sidewalk to subway station for his government-subsidized ride to work. It saves him considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Joe begins his work day. He has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Joe's employer pays these standards because Joe's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Joe is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, he'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think he should lose his home because of his temporary misfortune.

It is noontime and Joe needs to make a bank deposit so he can pay some bills. Joe's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Joe's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Joe has to pay his Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and his below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Joe and the government would be better off if he was educated and earned more money over his lifetime. Joe also forgets that his in addition to his federally subsidized student loans, he attended a state funded university.
Joe is home from work. He plans to visit his father this evening at his farm home in the country. He gets in his car for the drive. His car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards to go along with the tax-payer funded roads.
He arrives at his boyhood home. His was the third generation to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans.

The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.
He is happy to see his father, who is now retired. His father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Joe wouldn't have to.
Joe gets back in his car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that the beloved Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Joe enjoys throughout his day. Joe agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm a self-made man who believes everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."

Some U.S. 2009 Budget Numbers

FACT: Majority of FY 2009 deficit attributed to Bush policies

$1.2 trillion of $1.4 trillion deficit was already projected before Bush left office. The CBO projected on January 7, 2009, that, including spending authorized under the Bush administration for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and government takeovers of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the deficit would total $1.2 trillion. According to the CBO, the actual FY 2009 deficit was $1.4 trillion.

Saudi Prince is the Second Largest Stockholder of News Corp

This week, Prince Alwaleed bin Talal al-Saud of Saudi Arabia — the largest shareholder of News Corp outside the Murdoch family — endorsed Rupert Murdoch’s son James to succeed the elder Murdoch when he retires. Alwaleed, King Abdullah’s nephew, is Saudi Arabia’s richest person and the world’s 22nd wealthiest (Murdoch is number 132). He holds large stakes in many American companies, including Citi. The prince met with Murdoch last week to discuss a “future potential alliance with News Corp,” and he told Charlie Rose Wednesday about his respect for the Murdoch dynasty:

ALWALEED: I met with Mr. Rupert Murdoch and Mr. James Murdoch. We are always in tough. I’m second biggest shareholder there. And no doubt that News Corp is moving on all the fronts. You’ve seen how FOX rating is skyrocketing. … James is now managing Europe and Asia. … I’ll be the first one to nominate him to be the successor of Mr. Rupert Murdoch, god forbid if something happens to him. … I have full confidence in [James], full trust in him, and he’s capable. He’s really Rupert Murdoch in the making, and he’s almost there now.

Warm, wet weather causes shutdown of Cypress Mountain: Officials are hoping to preserve snowboarding and freestyle courses.

Stupid Supreme Court

It disgusts me that corporations will be able to spend what ever the cuss they want to make political ads. Why do they get considered as private citizens and have coverage under freedom of speech. The lobbyists rule the day. Congress is broken. Our congress and states congresses will be bought out even more now. Imagine, Evan Bayh brought to you by Pepsi Co.

Generating false consensus and manipulation public opinion, ruining tv and drowning out the truth.

Health Reform

Lets break the health reform bill into sections. Sections that change the way business is done and that makes it a killer politically to vote against.

And leave all the financial sections of reconciliation. Prior administrations did it, so can this one. Cuss your bipartisanship when its in their party's interest to vote no for everything. The people will blame the party in power, blame the president, even when its obstructionism. Thats just how it goes.

Because we have short memories.

Taking Money From People You Dont Know

So this guy attends their events, claims money from them and is running for the senate. In an interview with The Boston Globe, Brown claimed that he was unfamiliar with the "Tea Party movement" despite being endorsed by a national Tea Party group.

QUESTION: "Scott, what do you think about the Tea Party movement and what they are trying to do?"
BROWN: "I am not quite sure what you are talking about, what are they trying to do?"

QUESTION: "The anti-smaller government, sort of anti-establishment organization that is trying to take over the country."

BROWN: "Taking over the country. I think that is a little bit of an exaggeration."

QUESTION: "Well, they are all over the place and they are trying to take down moderate Republicans. . ."

BROWN: "All I know is that. . . "

QUESTION: "Are you completely unaware of that organization?"

BROWN: "I'm not quite sure what you are referring to. But let me just say that this is a big tent campaign..."

Words Matter

Brad Plumer and Julia Whitty bring us the results of a neat social psychology experiment which proves that people are dumb framing is really important. Brad’s summary:

Test subjects were broken up into two groups, and each group was allowed to pick between pricier and cheaper versions of various items like airline tickets. Group A was told that the more expensive items included the price of a “carbon tax,” whose proceeds would go toward clean-energy development. Group B was told that the costlier items included the price of a “carbon offset,” whose proceeds would go toward clean-energy development. Exact same policy, just different names for each.

You can guess what happened next. In the “offset” group, Democrats, Republicans, and independents all flocked toward the pricier item. They were perfectly happy to pay an extra surcharge to fund CO2 reduction—even Republicans gushed about the benefits of doing so. Not only that, but most of the group supported making the surcharge mandatory. In the “tax” group, however, Democrats were the only ones willing to pay for the costlier item. Republicans in this group were much more inclined to grumble about how much more expensive the tax made things.

Something From Bin Laden in '04

"All that we have to do is to send two Mujahedin to the farthest point East to raise a piece of cloth on which is written al Qaeda in order to make the generals race there to cause America to suffer human economic and political losses without their achieving for it anything of note other than some benefits for their private companies.

". . . we alongside the Mujahedin bled Russia for 10 years until it went bankrupt and was forced to withdraw in defeat."

". . . We are continuing this policy in bleeding America to the point of bankruptcy.

"Every dollar of al Qaeda defeated a million dollars, by the permission of Allah, besides the loss of a huge number of jobs," he said. "As for the economic deficit, it has reached record astronomical numbers estimated to total more than a trillion dollars . . .

"And it all shows that the real loser is you, It is the American people and their economy."

Now lets look at this, did we not just give them what they wanted? Did we not give them the victory they aimed for?

People bitch about the deficit and forget about the wars we are in. Then people bitch about a possible war type tax to pay for the wars.

The industrial military complex has boomed, yet we have neglected our people. Our education system crumbles, our people are getting fatter, but so have the pockets of war contractors.

al Qaeda goes into Pakistan, fight out of Yemen and Somalia and we keep going for them fulfilling their wishes.

Killing the body does not change the thoughts, the souls, the ideals of people. Killing 20 civilians to get 2 terrorists does nothing but give ammo for their recruiting process.

Just A Reminder...

President George W. Bush tried Richard Reid -- the infamous shoe bomber -- in civilian court. It was the Bush administration, likewise, that pushed for the closure of Gitmo and transferred to Yemen the detainee who then subsequently helped train the Christmas Day would-be bomber. And there is literally nothing in the health care bill that even remotely touches on terrorism or terrorists' rights.
